Dani Cee's Breakfast Smoothie

I am not a morning person. That means I am always  running late and rarely have time to make breakfast, much less eat it. But, what I have learned is that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and skipping it is not an option, when it comes to looking and feeling your best.

Did you know that in 2012 two separate studies found further conclusive evidence that a healthy breakfast is the key to staying slim and healthy?

One study found that skipping breakfast increases cravings for fatty, sugar laden junk food and the other concluded that you eat more throughout the day when you skip breakfast. Previous studies have also confirmed that people who consume a healthy breakfast generally have a lower BMI.

So, if a healthy breakfast seems like an impossible task because you have no time (or desire) to get up and cook, try this quick and easy smoothie recipe! It’s low-calorie, high-fiber, low in added sugars, tasty and filling. (Oh, and if you are going to start blending your own smoothies, I strongly recommend the Magic Bullet! Clean up is so much easier than with a traditional blender.)

  • healthy breakfast smoothie1/2 banana
  • 1/3 cup mixed frozen berries
  • 1 scoop vanilla organic whey protein (I use Publix Greenwise Vanilla Whey protein powder – only 1 gram of sugar/serving)
  • 1 tablespoon Benefiber
  • Probiotics supplement
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup almond milk

Combine ingredients in blender and mix until blended. Drink while getting ready for work or on your way to work.

At just 296 calories and complete with protein, fiber and antioxidants, it’s a well-rounded meal on the go!
